Meetic is a free online dating and friendship site and one of the largest in Europe having acquired Match.com in 2009 giving it an estimated 30 million members.
It has a huge database of men and women of all sexual orientations looking to find love and friendship. You can view photos and profiles and search members to find the right person for you. Meetic encourages you to add a photo after sign-in either uploading your own or via your webcam. Most members upload several photos of themselves which are available in their full profile.
If you like the look of one of the Meetic members, you can instantly start chatting via an IM chat client or e-mail and even wink at them. However, this is only available to Premium users who pay the full monthly membership fee. This effectively means that you can't contact any of the Meetic members unless you upgrade to the premium version but you can do plenty of window shopping. Unlike some dating sites, most of those featured in Meetic appear to be real people too with their own profile descriptions.
The search feature in Meetic is very detailed allowing you to specify everything from the color of hair you're seeking to whether they have children or not. However, you can't search members by keyword (such as "walking") for example which is a shame.
Meetic is a well designed and refreshingly ad-free dating site although to contact members, you will have to upgrade.
